Launching a commerce channel for a growing retailer

Launching a commerce channel for a growing retailer

Challenge

A homeware retailer sold through a physical shop and WhatsApp. Orders were tracked in chat threads, stock was checked by walking the aisle, and payment confirmation depended on customers sending screenshots.

Approach

We structured the catalogue first — categories, variants and photography standards — then designed the checkout around the payment methods customers actually used, and mapped delivery zones against real courier costs rather than estimates.

Solution

A storefront with card, bank transfer and USSD payments through a local gateway, automatic payment confirmation, live stock synced to the shop's counter system, zone-based delivery pricing and an order dashboard the shop staff run from a tablet.

Outcome

Orders now arrive with payment already confirmed and stock already reserved, WhatsApp became a support channel rather than an order book, and the shop gained a second sales channel without adding headcount.
